2002 – 2004
In December 2002, a proposal to unify both SMAA (boys) and SMAA (girls) came up. Fresh initiatives coming from the officers of both associations (Mr. Georgie Moral as President of Sisters of Mary Alumni Association, Ms. Maricor Dechosa as President of Sisters of Mary Alumnae Association) and from Sr. Riza with Ms. Amelita Clemente as the adviser, led to something more unifying. Thus, in the same month, an election of a new set of officers was held. For the very first time in several years, a unified alumni association was born. With the help of Atty. Adonis Sulit, batch 1992, who drafted the new By-Laws and recommended to change the name of the association to avoid complexity of registering anew in Securities and Exchange Commission, the Alumni of the Sisters of Mary School, Inc. or ASMSI came into existence. The election put Mr. Alexander Flores as the first ASMSI President.
To strengthen the relationship and to encourage improved alumni participation, Kuya Alex first focused to utilize the best and efficient medium of communication to reach out to all the graduates of the Sisters of Mary. He pushed towards the realization of a website which is dynamic and interactive. He then changed the domain name from www.smaa.org.ph to www.asmsi.org.ph so as to simply reflect the unified association. Ranel Viana (batch 1995) and an IT administrator, helped in hosting the new domain name for free.
Strengthening the bonding of the alumni was foremost in Kuya Alex's mind. He thought that the association can't stand in its own if the members don't have a strong bond with each other. Activities such as swimming, parties and recollections among others created strong camaraderie and rapport among graduates.
