2000 – 2002
In the latter part of 1999, Mr. Georgie Moral became the next President of SMAA (boys) and Mr. Marcos Gomez, batch 1992, became the Vice-President. In pursuit of carrying out the alumni's objectives and in partnership with SMAA (girls), Mr. Georgie Moral spearheaded the construction of bust-size replica of Fr. Al, and the construction of Fr. Al's Children's Park which was inaugurated in March 2001.
In 2001, the alumni successfully held two Alumni Cup Basketball Tournament, an inter-company basketball competition. Also in this year was the registration of both SMAA's in Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as legal entities. Fundraising projects were separately conducted by each association to finance its respective projects.
In 2002, under the leadership of Mr. Georgie Moral, the idea of Mr. Jun Mariano (batch 1991) of creating a website for the alumni was acted upon. He then called a meeting, and one of those who responded was Mr. Alexander Flores (batch 1991), who then initiated the very worthwhile project. Mr. Alexander Flores conducted another meeting to get to the bottom of website development. He then organized a group of IT Specialists who volunteered for the construction of the website. He also looked for someone who could initially sponsor the cost of website development. With the financial help of Mr. Jun Mariano, batch 1991, the project started rolling. Initially, the website's name was www.smaa.org.ph to reflect the association that was existing then. Meetings after meetings and mostly with the help of Mr. Oliver Rombaoa (batch 1994) and Ms. Bonnalyn Evangelista (batch 1998), a website was launched in August 2002. The website then was not interactive -- no forum, no chat. It was just purely static, but the message of the website sent waves across. This was the start of the new beginning for the alumni association.
